Dry hammock west of hydric hammock. Small area, almost island-like. Overstory of Quercus virginiana witih Pinus elliottii surrounding site. Understory is also composed of Quercus virginiana (less than 20 feet tall). Sabal palmetto, Quercus nigra, and Ilex glabra are present as tall and short shrubs. Ground cover mostly composed of hardwood leaf litter, but few individuals of Woodwardia virginica and Pteridium aquilinum were present. Vines were prevalent - Vitis rotundifolia and Smilas auriculata as well as Toxicodendron radicans. Short shrubs include Vaccinium corymbosum, Vaccinium myrsinites (elliottii?), Persea palustris, and Serenoa repens. Galactia elliottii was also observed interspersed in ground cover.
